IF...

  • your child underachieves in school
  • your child stands one or more years behind in any or all academic areas
  • your child lacks fluency in any basic academic skill
  • your child gets easily distracted or has difficulty paying attention
  • your child has a learning or attention deficit
  • you experience "homework battles"

We may be what your child needs to allow him/her to be successful!

At PLA, we provide a positive learning experience that facilitates success for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade who:

  • have shown general academic difficulties in other settings
  • have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, Rett Syndrome, and similar diagnosis
  • have behavioral and emotional difficulties such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder that impedes their learning
  • have specific learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities

Through high-quality instruction, as well as collaboration with parents, students, schools, and the community, the students will focus on their positive attributes and recognize their individual strengths and achievements to promote their future success. Students with similar needs and goals are grouped together for instruction. Groupings change repeatedly throughout the day as students move from reading to writing to mathematics. Groupings also change continuously throughout the school year as students make more or less progress than students in their current group.

The overall goal of Phoenix Learning Academy is to provide educational services that empower students to become active members of society, based on their individual strengths and abilities. We are committed to providing a caring community of dedicated staff and involved parents that meets the diverse academic, emotional, and social needs of all our students in a respectful and positive environment.

PLA offers a challenging and creative program, which is part of a traditional, direct-instruction, therapeutic environment marked by care and respect. More than just an academic institution, the school offers a unique experience based on Dr. Kent Johnson's Morningside Academy. If PLA sounds like the kind of place you would like to attend, please fill out the contact form and we will be in touch with you.  In the meantime, feel free to download our brochure and application.  You are welcome to visit us at our next open house or make a private appointment.
